Hello Hi 您好!
We are a trio of mummies who started off as sharing our experiences and list of recommended Chinese books that our children have read and enjoyed with one another. We learned a lot from each other during these sharing sessions.
While there is a wide selection of books, we found it tedious to select reads that our children will enjoy and understand. It was simply more convenient and easier to glean the recommended reads that have been tried and tested by another parent.
As mothers ourselves, we are constantly looking for interesting and varied ways to engage our own children so that their Chinese learning journeys are always kept fun. That’s when we thought perhaps we could do more by sharing with others.
From there, we mooted the idea of sharing our ideas with more parents on a bigger platform simply because we know there are some parents like us, always on the lookout for something fun yet educational to ignite our children’s interest in the Chinese language.
And that’s how our little online bookery comes about…
We have affectionately named ourselves as 悦阅月,translated to mean joy, read, and moon. It’s amazing how the same sounding word in Chinese can mean different things! We hope our customers to derive joy from reading, and to read a little every day, before you go to bed.
To make our book selection relevant to the local context, we also work together with two Chinese educators to curate our content.
About our Chinese educator partners,
* Wen Xuan used to be a Chinese teacher at a Primary level, She is also an author of many Chinese assessment books. She’s currently working in the education industry focusing on curating Chinese books and organizing Chinese programs to promote Chinese culture and language appreciation.
张老师 graduated from Beijing university, and used to be a Chinese teacher at a Secondary level. She’s currently pursuing a PHD in children and educational related field.
* Wen Xuan is a pseudonym. The person prefers to remain anonymous to avoid possible work commitment conflicts.
